Djon Mundine OAM is a curator, writer, artist and activist who has held prominent Aboriginal curatorial positions in many national and international institutions, including the first Indigenous curator (Curator in the Field) at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and Queensland Art Gallery. Between 1979-1995 he was the Art Advisor at Milingimbi and Ramingining in the Northern Territory. He was the concept artist of the Aboriginal Memorial at the National Gallery of Australia in 1988. Between 2005-2006 he was Research Professor at The National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) in Osaka, Japan.
