Agatha Gothe-Snape: The Scheme was a Blueprint for Future Development Programs
Agatha Gothe-Snape’s ‘large line drawing’ was originally commissioned for the launch of the Campus Green in 2014. The artwork has multiple functions. As well as being a sports court, it is an activity zone for other kinds of exercises, such as discovering personality types, refining teamwork skills and practising mindfulness.
Gothe-Snape’s art practice stems from improvised performance—in this work the artist invites the Monash University community to perform her artwork. The Blueprint brings an emotional register into public space and encourages reflection on relationships between individuals, groups, and larger entities and structures, such as the University itself.
In 2023, Gothe-Snape was invited to revisit her original artwork for the planned resurfacing of the sports courts. With T.C.L architects the original table tennis tables, volleyball court and walking track were removed and pickleball and foursquare were introduced.
