Stephen Ralph: Life is long

In, Life is long, his fourth solo exhibition at The Commercial, Ralph continues working in marble, exemplary material of permanence and monumentality prized by sculptors for its softness and resistance to shattering. With its low index of refraction of calcite, light can penetrate several millimetres into the stone before scattering out, enhancing the lifelike quality of representations of the human body.
