Congratulations to Matthew Harris who last night was awarded the $10,000 Margaret Olley Commendation Award by judge Blair French in the 2026 Mosman Art Prize for his painting Brightest of All Time.

Matthew Harris and Elizabeth Pulie are shortlisted for the 2026 Mosman Art Prize at Mosman Art Gallery, Sydney. Mosman Art Prize is Australia’s longest-running municipal art award. The 2026 Prize is judged by Blair French, CEO of Murray Art Museum Albury. Exhibition: 21.08.26 – 26.10.26.

Matthew Harris is exhibiting in After all, a two-artist exhibition at Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne, with senior artist and Wadawurrung Elder Marlene Gilson OAM. Matthew is presenting new and recent paintings in dialogue with works by Marlene from the past decade. Matthew Harris was a Gertrude Studio Artist from 2020–2023. Exhibition: 22.08.26 – 17.10.26. Matthew Harris, Narelle Jubelin, Jazz Money and Yasmin Smith have artworks included in Ngarn Wa’ngal: Art of the gum tree at the Potter Museum of Art, Melbourne. The exhibition includes works by over 100 artists and is curated by Alisa Bunbury, Senior Curator of the Grimwade Collection at the University of Melbourne, and Sophie Gerhard, Curator, Australian and First Nations, at the National Gallery of Victoria. Jazz Money and Matthew Harris have been invited to exhibit in the 18th Lyon Biennale. Curated by Catherine Nichols, the exhibition take the centuries-old traboules (hidden pedestrian walkways) as the starting point. Augusta Vinall Richardson and Matthew Harris are exhibiting in New South Vol. 2: Recent Sculpture & Installation Art at Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Sydney. Curated by Dr Victoria Wynne-Jones, the exhibition "presents recent examples of sculpture and installation art from across Southern Australasia. Bringing together an intergenerational group of 17 artists, the exhibition offers a snapshot of current sculptural practice and the ideas shaping it today." Exhibition 24.04.26 — 21.06.26

Mathew Harris and Archie Moore are exhibiting new work at the 2026 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Yield Strength, curated by Ellie Buttrose. Harris are at two venues, the Art Gallery of South Australia and Samstag Museum of Art. Moore's work will be at the Museum of Economic Botany in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Until 08.06.26.

Matthew Harris and Lillian O’Neil are presenting major bodies of work in All the World’s Memories, curated by José Da Silva at UNSW Galleries, Sydney. The exhibition is on until 03.05.26 and includes Harris’s major work, Consigned to Oblivion (2023), and a group of works by O'Neil including a newly commissioned collage.

A solo exhibition by Matthew Harris, Overland, opens this weekend in the artist’s hometown at Wangaratta Art Gallery in regional Victoria. The exhibition “explores dominant power structures and historical narratives through a socially critical and conceptual practice in painting and sculpture. In Overland, Harris turns his focus to the lasting impact of colonisation on the Wangaratta region and its First Peoples, presenting a new series of paintings informed by historical documents. Using natural ochres and charcoal on hessian - a material chosen for its colonial associations and textile history - Harris weaves together personal and ancestral stories with broader material and cultural legacies.” Overland includes Harris' major painting series from 2024, The British Museum, on loan from the National Gallery of Victoria.
